management, workflow management) and adapting existing pension administration programs
to support secure online real-time transaction processing. In addition, the Agency
manages a $55 billion trust fund, invested globally, the management of which is

POSITION DUTIES
This position provides senior technical knowledge and support in the Agency's Information Systems Division - a team that enjoys a positive and constructive reputation for getting work accomplished using Agile methods and current toolsets and practices. The incumbent provides specialized expertise in relational database management systems and programming to design, develop, and maintain the pension administration management systems used to support Agency staff, over 130 employers statewide, and pension plan participants. The incumbent also provides IT staff with support in product knowledge, resolving design and performance issues, and general troubleshooting. This position impacts Agency day-to-day operations and has collaborative interaction and visibility at all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities include: Monitoring scheduled SQL Agent job
completion and SQL Server health (space, performance, availability, other
metrics); Troubleshooting and resolving issues; Assisting developers with T-SQL
code and database design appropriateness; Reviewing developer T-SQL code and
SSRS Reports for quality, efficiency, security and suggesting improvements
where appropriate; Assisting in reviewing database permissions for compliance
with policies and best practices; Assisting with requested database restores;
Assisting auditors and managers with database-related information requests;
Assisting with reviewing and promoting database changes through the development
environments (Development, Test, Staging, Production); Other duties assisting
the Database Administrators.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology related field to include course work in database management systems.
Experience: One year of experience designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling database management systems for computers.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate plus thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in database management systems for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for computers for the required education.
3. Candidates may substitute possession of experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages on a year-for-year basis for high school education.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Database Administration classifications or Database Administration specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants
must meet the selective qualification(s) to be considered. Include clear and

1. Training and experience
maintaining and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases.
2. Training and
experience in maintaining IT security at the database level.
3. Training and experience writing and maintaining SQL/Transact-SQL (T-SQL) code.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference
will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred
qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your
application regarding your qualifications.
1. Experience with
large relational database systems (e.g. hundreds of gigabytes, tens of
thousands of records, multiple databases, cross-database relationships.)
2. Experience
developing, monitoring and maintaining SQL Server Agent jobs, preferably
including utilizing multi-server jobs (MSX).
3. Experience with MS
SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.
4. MCSA or MCSE Certifications on Microsoft SQL Server Databases
5. Experience developing, configuring, and administering MS SQL Server Power BI Report Server on- premises implementations.
6. Experience developing, configuring, and administering MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) implementations.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this
classification may be subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be
required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the
employee can be reached or will be furnished with a pager or cell phone.
