LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
The Data & Business Architect for the Data Mart Team will be responsible for supporting the reporting team and business in developing a user friendly COVID vaccination data repository for all related reporting and data uses.
Job Duties include:
Identify, document and inventory sources for required data;
Document, develop and improve process workflows for obtaining and storing data;
Development and mapping of the data architecture;
Provisioning of access into the data environment for business-approved users;
Summarize and transform data to include calculations and business rules to support faster and easier reporting;
Collaborating with 3rd parties such as CRISP, Tiberius & VtrckS for planning, data creation, ingestion and automation;
Developing SSIS Packages to stage automation of data refreshes;
Source to target mappings and documentation of transformations;
Testing of data automation into the MDH environment;
Scheduling and running automation jobs in the MDH environment; and,
Collaborating with Reporting team to maintain and document the data dictionary.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management, Information Technology or other related field with specific coursework in the structure and use of automated information systems.
Experience: One year of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or statewide systems housed on mainframe computers or large client server platforms.
1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and two additional years of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or statewide systems housed on mainframe or large client server platforms may be substituted for the required education.
2. Experience responding to and resolving help desk calls from users of computers, or operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, database or other applications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for a high school education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
