POSITION DUTIES

The Revenue Administration Division in the office of the Comptroller of Maryland is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated professional to join its senior executive management team. Our office is in the heart of beautiful, historic Annapolis, the Maryland State Capital. We offer a hybrid working environment and a competitive benefit package.

This position reports directly to the Division Director and serves as a trusted partner. Primary responsibilities of this position involve oversight, management, and direction of several vital functions. These include revenue distributions; tax revenue statements and fiscal reports; taxpayer accounting; internal and external audit coordination; and planning and implementing technology programs affecting the mission and operation of the division in collaboration with external agency partners. This position also represents the division in special projects, programs, committees, and other high-profile assignments.  
 
PLEASE NOTE: Must be able to work in a full-time capacity: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelors or advanced degree in accounting, management information systems, tax, or related field.
 
Experience:  Seven years of increasingly responsible management experience in leadership positions.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in accounting, management information systems, tax or other related field.
  • Licensed CPA. 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish goals, standards, and controls to meet division objectives. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, organize, and administer multiple functions and operations. 
  • Confidence, self motivation, and excellent conflict resolution skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the selected candidate must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, finger printing, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
