Introduction
This position has been approved for a 6% salary increase
effective July 1, 2021. The salary range demonstrated above does not
reflect that increase. Candidates starting prior to July 1 will automatically receive
the pay increase on that date.

Salary Range: $61,725 to $80,437
(with progression to $99,103)

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Manages the operations of the General Accounting Section including but
not limited to training, evaluation and improvement of operations; analyzes and
evaluates accounting systems and procedures to ensure that internal accounting
controls are in place and operating efficiently and effectively; manages the
work product of the Section to ensure technical proficiency and establish
performance standards to identify and report factors affecting work quality;
and provides technical support for office automation services. Provides
accurate and timely financial information for the Accounting Chief.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a Bachelors with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses; including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in Auditing. Possession of a CPA is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Six years (6) of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying General Accepted Accounting Principles. Three years (3) of required experience must be direct supervision of other professional employees.
Notes:
Candidates may substitute possession of CPA
certificate or Masters in Accounting for one year of the required experience.
Candidates may substitute one year of professional
budgeting or auditing experience for one year of the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles
(GAAP); knowledge of governmental accounting standards, policies, and
procedures; knowledge of financial systems such as the Financial Management
Information System (FMIS) and R*STARS; skill in effectively supervising and leading
professional staff; ability to analyze data and make sound decisions; ability
to manage schedules and meet established timelines; ability to effectively
communicate with all levels of officials (both inside and outside the agency).
