POSITION DUTIES

This position will be responsible for administering all medical services performed by the Anne Arundel County Department of Health's OTP programs, either by performing them directly or by delegating specific responsibility to authorized program physicians and healthcare professionals functioning under the medical director’s direct supervision. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that the OTP clinics comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations. The incumbent will maintain all required licenses and certifications in order to function as the Medical Director of the OTPs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Doctorate a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications or Nursing or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:

A Controlled Dangerous Substances Registration;
Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license; 
Board certification in Addiction Medicine; 
A data waiver to prescribe buprenorphine; and, 
Experience in addiction medicine.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants  for this classification must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.

2. Applicants for this classification must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license must be attached to the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
