Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this part time 60% position is to serve as the Deputy Health Officer and Chief Medical Officer for the Carroll County Health Department (CCHD). This position provides clinical oversight and medical consultation for public health services provided by the CCHD and assists the Health Officer in identifying needs and coordinating the implementation programs in cooperation with community partners and providers to improve the health of the citizens of Carroll County. This position participates in CCHD-wide planning, clinical policy development, and clinical operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidate must possess a Degree in medicine from an accredited college or university and a license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland. In addition to the license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland, applicants MUST either possess a master's degree in public health and at least 2 years experience in the field of public health; OR at least 5 years experience in the field of public health.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates should possess:

  • Experience providing medical direction, including policy development and implementation, for an organization that provides a wide range of medical services and advises community partner agencies on various health issues;
  • Experience in working with non-profit and partner organizations to improve community health metrics. Possess connections within the local community medical practices, non-profits, and partner agencies or demonstrated experience building collaborative partnerships to improve community health metrics and access to health services; and,
  • Experience in organizational strategic planning.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. **Please be sure to include a copy of your current licensure or license number and expiration date with your completed application.**

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
