POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to support the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery oriented environment. The foundation of a recovery oriented environment is respect and a commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible. Also, the main purpose of this position is to develop and implement training programs and treatment modalities to advance Addiction, Co-Occurring and Trauma Recovery Services (ACTRS) goals and the goals of Springfield Hospital Center. To provide assessments and when needed, conduct research regarding risk, patient vulnerabilities  in the community, recidivism, and the effectiveness of ACTRS programs and to provide treatment, including therapy to patients with co-occurring, addiction, trauma and recovery issues. Provide assistance with psychological testing and training/supervision of psychology externs, interns and postdoctoral fellows.

Some job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Performs clinical services for ACTRS, including assessments/testing, individual and group therapy, treatment plan development, annual assessments, etc. to the patients at Springfield Hospital Center. Serves as an ACTRS liaison for Unit Treatment Team's to review treatment plans and provide recommendations for patients identified with substance/trauma related problems. Lead and develop programs and treatment modalities to advance ACTRS' goals to include Motivational Interviewing, Cultural and Diversity Training, Smoking Cessation, and Program Evaluations. Participation in hospital and/or department based committees/meetings and maintain all appropriate documentation. Provide supervision for psychology externs, interns, postdoctoral fellows, and others as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.

Experience: Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of the Psychologist license.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position.  Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may apply before receipt of the required license but the application will be designated in pending status by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Testing Unit. When the license has been obtained, submit a copy of the license to MDH to remove the pending status from the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
