POSITION DUTIES
To assess all incoming inmates in a designated institution for substance abuse problems and provide counseling, intervention, intense/brief treatment and rehabilitation services to those inmates with complex substance abuse disorder(s) which may also include inmates that are dually diagnosed. This position will supervise all monitors and certified counselors at the CAC-AD and CSC-AD levels in the Baltimore Region. In addition will provide guidance administratively to the addictions secretarial staff.
Perform screenings on those inmates who will enter group utilizing the TCU Drug Screen II. Score and assess for appropriate treatment. Complete the Screening and Treatment Assignment Protocol (TAP) Assessment Result form with recommendations and provide the form to case management.
Assess adult inmates using the TAP to identify inmates needing substance abuse treatment services. Score the TAP and make recommendations on the Screening Assessment Result form. Develop inmate files to maintain original testing instruments.
Provide intensive/brief substance abuse treatment on an individual basis twice monthly and two group session a week for with approximately 15 members in the group.
Documentation of all group and individual notes to include treatment plans and discharge summaries in inmate files.
Maintain contact with internal and external resources such as community based addiction providers in support of providing Aftercare services.
Participation in continued professional development through educational training.
Completion of monthly statistics on substance abuse treatment activities.
Assign, review and approve the work and train lower-level Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
