POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to function on full performance level of a Registered Nurse responsible for coordinating, organizing, managing, monitoring and evaluating 24-hour nursing care on a unit as assigned. This position reports to the Nursing Administration Team and collaborates with supervisory nursing personnel and clinical nurse specialists for overall function of the unit. This position ensures nursing care is delivered consistently in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act standards, MDH, facility,  and departmental guidelines. Lastly, this position supports the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery oriented environment. The foundation of a recovery oriented environment is respect and a commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

Experience: Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include one year in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity and two years in a psychiatric setting. 

Notes: 

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university for one year of the required psychiatric experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree in Nursing or a health related field from an accredited college or university for the required psychiatric experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Experience providing education to subordinates
  • Experience delegating tasks
