POSITION DUTIES

This position is the lead office administrator for the Office of Communications and Community Engagement. The position is responsible for acting as an intermediary for the Senior Executive Director of the Office of Communications and Community Engagement; maintaining contact with other agency executive associates and other staff; handling operational details; handling scheduling; maintaining records; reviewing documents to facilitate review; handling incoming correspondence; developing forms and summaries; procurement, human resources, requisitioning supplies; reconciling credit card statements; and special assignments based on knowledge of the Division’s programs and administrative policies and procedures. The Executive Assistant will deliver exemplary internal and external customer service and assist the Office of Communications and Community Engagement meet its goals and objectives associated with the agency’s multi-year strategic plan and Blueprint for Maryland’s Future initiatives. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience functioning as a special assistant to a director level position

Knowledge and experience with education policies, issues, and regulations

Experience managing a calendar and scheduling events

Experience working in fast paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines
