MDH, Deputy Secretary for Operations, Baltimore, MD

Main Purpose of Job

This position will function as the Executive level personal secretary and assistant to the Deputy Secretary for Operations. This position will also be responsible for creating/maintaining records, notes, and draft correspondence; managing an executive level calendar; maintaining a corporate purchasing card and associated documentation; and other operation-based organizational duties.


Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from accredited college or university, at least five years of experience performing administrative support to a senior level administrator or executive level staff and at least 2 years of experience with executive level calendar management.

Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.


The desired candidate should possess the following:

  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders; to include MDH Staff, Legislative staff, the general public, vendors, and Maryland constituents;
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google platforms;
  • Experience with data analysis and spreadsheet manipulation; 
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work independently, and provide a high level of productivity.


This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
