Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Serves as intermediary for the State Superintendent in overseeing operational details; administers scheduling for the State Superintendent of Schools; interacts with all internal and external individuals and entities to ensure all necessary preparation, background materials and policy/reform administration; interprets administrative decisions and policies to other members of the staff and transmits orders and instructions with the authority of the Executive; screens and reviews incoming communications from MSDE staff, outside public, and high levels of government; alerts the State Superintendent regarding urgent and important matters; composes, prepares, proofreads, edits, and/or reviews for accuracy all correspondence, reports sent out under the auspice of the State Superintendent ensuring the highest quality standards for final product; establishes record-keeping systems so that information may be retrieved and/or tracked; oversees and manages the general office support operations in the immediate office; Prepares, problem solves, and coordinates logistics/detailed communication between and among the Office of the State Superintendent, the Divisions of MSDE, the State Board of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative support to a senior or executive level manager. One year of the above experience must have included Office Management. Relevant experience in a State or local government agency is a desirable.
Note:
Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education or possession of an Associate’s Degree in secretarial science or office technology is preferred.
