Main Purpose of Job

Director of Participant Services, member of the management team. This position holds the designation of Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC®) and is the subject matter expert responsible for the direction, management, and strategic plan of the Participant Services unit as well as the direct supervision of the Participant Services Field Team. This is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

POSITION DUTIES

Manages the day-to-day operations of the Participant Services unit. Develops policies and procedures for the unit. Responsible for the creation and dynamic development of educational plan participant outreach (currently 15+ seminars/webinars) to all state employees on the supplemental retirement plans, investing principles, investment strategy, asset allocation, building retirement portfolios and investing fundamentals. Designs and serves as a regular presenter at regional financial workshops and personal finance seminars to incorporate speakers from various agencies and companies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years working with retirement plan education. 

Note:  Candidates may substitute additional work experience in administrative staff or professional work experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to current employees of the Maryland Supplemental Retirement Plans only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Must be a Certified Retirement Counselor or obtain certification within one year of hire.

2.  Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.  You may be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire.  The supplemental questionnaire may be used as part of the rating process.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.
