Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide day-to-day oversight and management of the programs and services provided by the Caroline County Health department under the direction of the full time Health Officer. These programs are essential to ensuring the overall mission of the Health Department. The mission of the Health Department is to protect and promote the health of Caroline County residents. This is accomplished by: monitoring the community health status; linking residents to personal health services; assuring the provision of services when otherwise unavailable; enforcing laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety; responding to both natural and man-made disasters, and by informing, educating and empowering residents about health issues with any and all Programs & Services (either listed or not listed herein) as directed by the full-time Health Officer.


Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least six years of professional experience related to health care service delivery, 2 years of which must have been in public administration and three years of which must have been in a supervisory or managerial position.

A Masters degree will substitute for one year of general experience.


Preferred candidates should possess experience in writing grants and overseeing budgets and have experience with supervising a large number of employees.


This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
