Main Purpose of Job

The Director of the Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control (CTPC) provides experienced public health leadership in promoting the work of the Center, performing highly responsible programmatic and administrative work at the level of a program administrator with extensive training and expertise in public health. The Director uses experience and knowledge in the area of tobacco use prevention and cessation to provide State leadership.  Job duties include:  Providing vision and strategic direction, developing goals and objectives and determining key strategies and action plans to ensure efficient and effective program operations; developing and implementing strategies coordinated with internal and external partners to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the Center's programs; and, managing all assigned fiscal, human and other resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least six years of professional health or human services experience in tobacco prevention and control, and at least three years of experience at a supervisory or managerial level.

A Master’s degree will substitute for one year of general experience, a Doctorate for two years of general experience.  Additional experience will substitute year-for-year for the college degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired candidates should possess the following:
      
  • Experience with developing budgets and tracking expenditures; and,
  • Experience with staff recruitment.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
