This position is limited to current contractual and permanent Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) employees only.

POSITION DUTIES

• This position is for a Special Assistant reporting directly to the Assistant Secretary
of Programs, Treatment and Reentry Services of DPSCS. The Special Assistant
of Programs, Treatment and Reentry Services is responsible for the administration
and supervision of programs and services delivered to offenders within the
Division of Pre-Trial & Detention Services, the Division of Correction, and the
Division of Parole & Probation. The position coordinates and facilitates special
projects for the Commissioner, Deputy Secretary of Operations and Secretary of
DPSCS.

• Plans directs and administers all aspects of Contract Administration
and Audits for all inmate healthcare contracts (medical, dental, psychology, etc).
This position supervises the Director of the Contract Administration and Audit
Unit.

• Supervises the Chief Hearing Officer for Inmate Discipline and plans
and directs all aspects of the Inmate Discipline program.

• Will act as the Department’s Grant Manager for all grants related to
Programs, Treatment, and Re-Entry Services (PTRS). This position will ensure
compliance with all grant requirements in order to secure funding.

• Will report directly to the Assistant Secretary of PTRS for DPSCS
and will accept other duties as assigned such as manager of the Crisis De-
Escalation Program, Human Resources initiatives, and legislative duties such as
ensuring the timely submission of Joint Chairman’s reports, Public Information
Act Requests. etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education: A Bachelor's of Arts degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university

Experience: 10 years of experience working within the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, 2 years must have been spent performing case management services

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of professional experience utilizing COBRA and other HR disciplinary processes.

Two years of professional experience with Inmate Discipline COMAR processes.
