POSITION DUTIES

This position serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) and provides senior-level management to the Information Technology and Communications Division (ITCD) Directors. The position is responsible for the daily ongoing operation of ITCD that includes all information processing within ITCD, for the successful completion of the information systems projects, and for the budget and general administration of ITCD. The DCIO manages the ITCD Directors of the following groups: Public Safety Data Center, Application Development, Networking and Telecom; Criminal Justice Information System and Central Repository; Administration and User Liaisons.

Ensure the successful completion of the major ITCD IT initiatives by coordinating the interaction between the technical and project management personnel.

Oversee the development and implementation of policies for the operation of information systems within the DPSCS and other agencies.

Assist the Chief Information Officer in providing strategic direction and planning for information technology and telecommunication for the DPSCS in support of its mission and business requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science

Experience: 10 years of IT experience, with 5 years supervising other IT professionals

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Preferred: IT certifications; experience managing IT projects; possession of a PMP; and/or experience in MD IT Contract Management and Procurement
