Main Purpose of Job

The Member Services Administrator is a highly responsible administrative support role and is integral to the efficient operations of MSRP. This position requires the use of independent thinking and judgment as well as the application of standard operating policies and procedures. The position’s primary function is to assist the Director of Member Services and the Member Services Education Specialists in support of all initiatives of the Member Services Unit. The Member Services Administrator is responsible for a variety of duties, which include (but are not limited to) the following: conducting research on various current and/or relevant topics that will potentially be incorporated into MSRP educational webinars and seminars; creating and assisting in the creation of educational webinars and seminars; creating drafts of webinar announcements and other communications; posting webinar updates and other pertinent information on the MSRP website; proofreading and editing presentations and other documents; coordinating the scheduling of guest speakers for webinars and seminars; serving as liaison to State benefit and retirement coordinators; preparing memoranda and other documents; working on various special projects, as assigned; and advising and providing updates and/or recommendations to the Director of Member Services and the team. This is a Special Appointment position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience working with mutual funds, retirement plans, or investments.

2. Highly proficient performing business writing and proofreading for grammar, structure, and punctuation.

3. Highly proficient with Google Suite applications, including team collaboration tools.

4. Highly proficient creating PowerPoint presentations.

5. Highly proficient with Zoom video conferencing platform.

6. Self-starter with a customer service attitude who works well within a team environment. 

7. Training and/or experience in finance, banking, education, or insurance.

8. Creativity in writing and creating presentations.

9. Presentation skills.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
