Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB) is a first-of-its-kind, independent state agency that is charged with protecting State residents, State and local governments, commercial health plans, health care providers, pharmacies licensed in the State, and other stakeholders within the health care system from the high costs of prescription drug products. The PDAB works to analyze and implement policies to make prescription drugs more affordable for Marylanders. The PDAB serves as a resource for law makers, state and federal partners, patients, and other public and private entities working to make prescription drugs more affordable.

The PDAB is recruiting for an Administrative Specialist III position. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Maryland Prescription Drug Affordability Board. Functioning under the Executive Director’s direction and oversight, this position is responsible for budgeting, invoice and reimbursement processing, procurement, human resources, clerical duties, managing special tasks and initiatives, and other duties to ensure ongoing operations of the PDAB.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes: 
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education. 

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should have experience with that State of Maryland budget process, invoicing and reimbursement, and general office management. The candidate should have exceptional experience in paying attention to detail, ability to develop and follow processes, project management skills, and a willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges. Finally, the candidate should have strong computer experience, including experience with the Google Suite Office products and Microsoft Excel and Word.
