This position is the advanced level of work providing clinical services in psychiatry to patients that are mentally ill, chronically ill, or developmentally disabled, or in need of medical and preventative services, i.e, evaluation, treatment discharge, and aftercare planning. This position requires certification by the American Medical Association Specialty Board in the specialty of psychiatry. This position Psychiatrist Clinical Manager, MDH Rural, receives general supervision and is responsible for patients assigned by the Clinical Director to one of four acute 20 bed psychiatric patient units. This position provides guidance and direction to other clinical and treatment staff such as nurses , psychologists, social workers, and direct staff providing residential care.


Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physicians under the licensing requirements for


Experience: As required for certification In Psychiatry by the American Medical Association Specialty

Board or other Board approved by the Maryland Board of Physicians.


1. Applicants must be board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Medical Specialties or other Board approved by the Maryland Board of Physicians

2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of a current Maryland medical license and board certification should be attached to the application. Candidates that possess a license to practice medicine in another state will be considered, but if selected candidates must receive a Maryland medical license prior to hire date.


Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of

Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
