Main Purpose of Job

This position will assist in preparing and assembling materials for health education, program details and other service referrals both internal and external. This position will contact community organizations to gauge interest in FCHD programs, plan, and execute activities for continuous community engagement. This position will maintain cooperative and liaison relationships with public and private agencies. This position will assist in making FCHD services accessible, and participates in outreach/educational events or activities-including visits to community establishments to encourage program participation. This position will gather information on community resources needs and experiences, and assists with creating documentation, coordinating information sessions with internal and external stakeholders, and service referral activities. This position will follow up with feedback for the maximum utilization of existing services as well as for additional or expanded services. This position will acquire knowledge and information on health disparity and health equity related issues to provide adequate community health service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience in providing information on health care and disease prevention within the community.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should possess the following experience:
   -bilingual in Spanish 
   -health program or health care setting
   -outreach

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
