This is a Position Specific Recruitment for the Department of Assessments and Taxation, Tax Credit Programs. The resulting eligible list will be used for this position only.  Interested persons will need to reapply for future recruitments in this classification.

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to process tax credit applications and to respond to tax credit inquiries made by the public.

Processes tax credit applications by reviewing, verifying, interpreting documentation and information submitted with tax credit applications in order to determine applicants' eligibility for tax credit.

Responds to telephone inquiries made by the public and provides information regarding the Tax Credit Programs.

Corresponds with applicants in writing, by email or by telephone in order to obtain information necessary to determine applicants' eligibility for tax credit. Assists the public (walk-ins) with the preparation of tax credit applications Performs other work related duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
  • Supports other teams when appropriate with reasonable performance expectations 
  • Participates in training provided by management for any job duty deficiencies.
  • Regularly checks and responds to emails 
  • Follows SDAT's Customer Service Policy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes:

1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical or Office Services Specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Experience working with computers and different software including Microsoft Office and entering data into a database system. 
2. Experience working in a fast paced, customer and team oriented work environment. 
3. Experience working with the public via telephone and in person. 
4. Experience using a multi-line phone system. 
5. Experience performing mathematical computations including calculating percentages.
6. Professional oral/written communication and interpersonal skills

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be willing to work in Baltimore City.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard of a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
