Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Sandy Point State Park, 1100 East College Parkway, Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County) 

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support in the management of public lands and the cultural, historical, and natural resources found therein, and to support the administrative operations of Sandy Point State Park and its satellite facilities Belt Woods NEA, Severn Run NEA, Franklin Point State Park and Corcoran Environmental Tract. Support of administrative operations includes, but is not limited to, responding to requests for information from visitors, pavilion reservation coordination, the gathering and compilation of information and data, maintaining records, management, organization and tracking of park passes and park entry cards, preparing reports and forms, and procurement. The position provides administrative support to park facility areas including general park operations, maintenance, visitor services, and interpretation/environmental education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes: 

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience. 

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience using the following office hardware/equipment: printers, scanners, personal computer, external hard drives, copier, digital phone system, and cash register
  • Experience using the following computer software: Word, Excel, Quicken, Access, Publisher, Internet Explorer, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive.
  • Experience dealing with customers/public in the following methods: telephone, e-mail, written correspondence, face to face contact.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
