This is a recruitment for multiple full-time contractual positions in St. Mary's County, Maryland.

Main Purpose of Job

Assists families with building strong foundations for success in the work environment. Through ongoing assessment and monitoring, develops customer driven plans that emphasize strengths, interests, and steps needed to resolve barriers to employment, ultimately monitors compliance with the plan according to program requirements. Position assists customers’ access to internal and external supports and services. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the holistic needs of the family are met while program requirements are satisfied.

POSITION DUTIES

Assists and supports the customer with solutions to address customer barriers to employment. Places customers in required work activities that promote the customers’ career goals. Identifies and develops jobs/employment opportunities for families. Assesses/interviews customers who are referred by staff or other service providers for employment/financial needs. Assesses barriers to employment, risk factors of children and support the customer’s solution focused attempts to overcome the challenges to employment.  Monitors and evaluates customer’s plans to maintain a short term plan for customer cash assistance. Ensures customer compliance with required work activities. Matches the appropriate customer with job as determined by employment assessment. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:   Three years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidate will possess the following:

Experience with Human Services programs.
Knowledge of welfare to work programs.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Previous experience or ability to work as part of a collaborative team.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to candidates willing to work in St. Mary's County. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.

SELECTION PROCESS

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
