POSITION DUTIES
Maintain, repair, and sustain Maryland State Police property, including, but not limited to: the grounds; exterior structures; buildings and related fixtures; and utilities by use of a variety of trade practices such as; carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, H.V.A.C., painting, and other related trades. Ensure all Trouble Tickets are worked and noted (weekly) with status and activity performed. Supervise Maintenance Mechanic Senior positions in Northern, Central and Western Regions.
Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and remodeling of buildings, offices, or other facilities.
Ensure all trouble tickets are
noted and completed in a timely manner for you and your subordinates.
Performs bench carpentry using
shop equipment and power tools such as drills, saws, sanders, planers, air
nailers, routers, and radial arm saws.
Makes routine electrical
repairs such as replacing cooling motors, exhaust fans, lighting fixtures,
electrical outlets, appliances, light switches, and ballasts.
Operates lawn maintenance
equipment such as; line trimmers, lawn tractors, rotary mowers, and hedge
trimmers. Cuts, plants, trim, and maintain grass, trees, flower beds, and
hedges.
Operates a state-owned pick-up
truck equipped with a snow plow to assist with snow removal.
Studies building plans and
drawings to determine the necessary materials, tools, and sequence of work to
be performed for large projects.
Directs the work of other
skilled or semi-skilled state personnel and/or outside contractors for
specified projects.
Demonstrates continuous efforts
to: improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes,
and work cooperatively to provide quality, seamless customer service.
This position requires the
carrying of a State supplied cell phone or providing an alternate means of
contact at all times when not on authorized leave.
Performs all other assigned
duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Two years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including one year of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
2. Experience in the trades of HVAC, Plumbing, or Electricity

The examination will consist of
