POSITION DUTIES

This important role supervises the physical plant maintenance for a 316,308 square feet State facility. The person in this role will direct and coordinate the routine and preventative maintenance activities for all mechanical systems within the building, as well as supervise maintenance workers to ensure proper completion of tasks and adherence to safety procedures.

Other Position Duties include:
  • Assigning work orders of assigned tasks
  • Ensuring that all preventative maintenance responsibilities be completed in a timely manner and meet expectations regarding quality of work
  • Working with various outside contractors to ensure that costs of completed jobs compare with original cost estimates  
  • Providing on the job training to semi-skilled and unskilled employees
  • Requisitioning needed tools and equipment
  • Inspecting equipment and ensuring adherence to safety requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Eighth grade.

Experience: Four years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including three years of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience using Google Suite, Microsoft Word, or related computer applications.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is designated as Emergency Essential.
