Main Purpose of Job

In order for RICA-Baltimore to maintain a family-driven, youth guided program this position assists the Maintenance Supervisor with the overall production of Maintenance and Housekeeping departments in a medium sized state facility and performs other duties as required.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Performs inspections of buildings and grounds to ensure reliability, cleanliness, esthetics, and safety of the physical plant by identifying discrepancies.
  •  initiating corrective measures utilizing the work order system.
  • assignment of technicians based on skill level, priority and need and by providing written reports in accordance with applicable directives. 
  • Training subordinate staff as related to job functions.    
  • Coordinates building and equipment services and repairs to prevent and/or resolve defects, inspect completed work to insure longevity as per the manufacturer recommendations.  
  • Ordering parts and supplies needed for the upkeep and cleanliness of facility.     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Eighth grade.

Experience: Five years of experience in the building maintenence or building construction trades including four years of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates should possess the following:

  • Experience supervising maintenance staff;
  • Experience supervising housekeeping staff;
  • Experience purchasing and maintaining supplies for a department; and,
  • Experience performing inspections of buildings and grounds.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
