POSITION DUTIES

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is currently accepting applications for an Administrative Specialist III to work in the Wildlife and Heritage Service. The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative, fiscal and personnel support. The incumbent will be responsible for statewide procurement activities, the processing of all purchasing requests, including entering requisitions and purchase orders in the state finance system FMIS, ADPICS module; the processing of bank deposits generated from permit revenues, and assisting with Corporate Purchasing Card activity, contracts, and federal grant paperwork.

Additional duties include the utilization of the Statewide accounting system FMIS R*STARS module to research Accounts Payable transactions, serving as the customer service back-up for providing responses to public inquires pertaining to wildlife and land management questions. The incumbent will also serve as the Unit lead for out-of-state travel requests and training documentation and will assist with the distribution of mail.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants that possess the following skills and experience; please include clear and specific information on your application regarding these qualifications.

1. Applicants who have previous experience with our state procurement system.
2. Applicants who have a year or more experience working with spreadsheet software, especially Excel.
3. Applicant who have previous experience in working with accounting principals.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
