Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the Pharmacist Compliance Officer position is to facilitate the identification of and resolution of compliance issues relating to regulatory practice standards in the field of pharmacy in order to promote quality healthcare to Maryland citizens. The Pharmacist Compliance Officer for the MDH Board of Pharmacy Compliance Unit provides oversight for the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) as well as the Board's settlement conferences and hearings. This position also assists with pharmacy related investigative services and reviews out-of-state disciplinary actions taken against the Board licensees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Determined by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience: Two years of experience as a Registered Pharmacist.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Pharmacist classification or Pharmacist specialty codes in the Pharmacist field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
- Experience processing subpoenas and organizing and scheduling hearings with the Office of the Attorney General 
- Experience processing and researching Public Information Act subpoenas
- Experience in interpretation of health occupation pharmacy practices, statutes, and regulations

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Pharmacist from the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
