Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Land Acquisition and Planning Unit. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

POSITION DUTIES

The Department of Natural Resources, Land Acquisition & Planning Unit, located at the Tawes State Office Building, Annapolis, Maryland, is currently accepting applications for an Administrator I. The Land Acquisition & Planning Unit works to advance land conservation and outdoor recreational opportunities in Maryland. This position is responsible for the stewardship review of potential Program Open Space Stateside acquisitions and is part of the project review team for proposals regarding DNR lands. This position also has responsibility for monitoring and ensuring compliance for a range of conservation easements funded by, acquired by and held by the Department of Natural Resources or our partners as well as projects funded through Federal and State grants programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:   Eight years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. 

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have the selective experience in addition to the minimum requirements to qualify for this position.

  • One year of the above experience must have included administrative work in a grant program setting.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, Google Mail, and Drive.
  • Experience monitoring conservation easements and/or projects funded through Federal and State grant programs.
  • Experience with Maryland land conservation or grant programs including the Rural Legacy Program, Program Open Space Local and/or the Land and Water Conservation Fund

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
