POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent will work closely with the Local Accountability Branch Manager collecting, preparing, evaluating, editing, reporting, and publishing local education agencies’ financial data. It will also assist in administering the automated financial reporting system to meet changing needs. Under the direction of the Local Accountability Branch Manager, the position will prepare federal and state surveys, reports, and special projects ensuring that the federal and state reporting requirements are met. The position will also assist with reconciling local school system audits and other year-end reports.

Position Duties: 
• Coordinates and assists in collection of local education agency financial data. 
• Compiles, reviews, and analyzes State and Federal reports. 
• Coordinates and assists the process for review and approval of local education agency Indirect Cost rates 
• Provides technical assistance to local education agency staff. 
• Assist in reconciling year end reports. 
• Responds to inquiries on MSDE financial reporting policies and procedures. 
• Coordinates the preparation and verification of the accuracy and completeness of the FFATA reports.
• Assists the Office of Policy Analysis and Fiscal Compliance office with special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for five years of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

• Experience in Government or Fund Accounting and Finance.
• Experience in Grant Management (reviewing, analyzing).
• Education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience providing technical assistance/customer service.
• Experience with State and/or Federal financial processes.
• Experience with data analysis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas, Vlookup, etc.).
