POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent in this position is responsible for 1) the review, evaluation and assistance in the development of agency policies and programs; 2) working on sensitive and confidential projects requiring discretion and judgement in the release of information; such as the response to the Juvenile Justice Monitoring Unit (JJMU) quarterly reports; 3) compiling and researching information needed by DJS Executive Team. This position also manages large research and reporting projects that promote the work of the agency. This includes serving as the team leader for development of the annual publication, the DJS Data Resource Guide, examining juvenile offender trends, and more.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university including nine credit hours in research methodology, theoretical or applied statistics and measurement theory.

Experience: Six years of experience in statistical research after the possession of the Master’s degree.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Statistician classifications or Statistician and Intelligence Officer specialty codes in the Statistics field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding these qualifications.  
5 years of experience using sophisticated layout and design software in conjunction with both vector drawing and digital image editing software 
5 or more years experience working for a senior-level administrator or executive.
Two or more years of experience conducting high-level statistical analysis, complex programming for layout and design, and composing and editing text elements
Demonstrated ability to employ research and analytical thinking skills 
Demonstrated ability to interpret and understand implications of data analyses and possess the ability to make clear recommendation based on findings
Determine appropriate metrics and measures that will help measure progress, reinforce policy, and make adjustments to standing procedures
Experience working in Excel including pivot tables and charts  
Experience developing PowerPoint presentations
