The Comptroller’s General Accounting Division is looking for an Administrative Officer II to join the Vendor Services Team.

This role oversees the maintenance and monitoring of the State Accounting System (R*STARS) vendor table and the triage of customer requests and inquiries. This position provides guidance and resolution to customers for payment, vendor table, certificate of good standing and other inquiries. It is critical to the mission of this agency that vendors, agencies and other constituents are assisted timely and accurately. 

The Administrative Officer II position involves administrative work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans or policies. Employees in this classification are assigned administrative responsibilities involving the analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvements. Employees in this classification may supervise professional, technical or clerical staff. Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a higher-level administrator or management official.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year for up to four years of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours for each year of the required experience.
  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. 
  • Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. This background check is comprehensive and may involve fingerprinting. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six- month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
