Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Investigates/mediates home improvement complaints between homeowner and contractor using interviewing and negotiating skills, knowledge of licensing regulations, and ability to interpret home improvements contracts, and knowledge of building codes, both local and regional. Convenes site meetings with homeowner and contractor to observe the area of complaint. Discusses and determines appropriate action to resolve complaint, and recommends a consultant if necessary to investigation. Consults with local, regulatory code agencies, state, local and federal law enforcement offices and other agencies to determine violations.
- Answer telephone inquiries, assist walk-in customers and suggests appropriate action for consumers and contractors to address their concerns about complaints, claims and general information.
- Reviews claims and complaints prior to presenting to legal department to assure that all pertinent documentation is included to ensure that case is legally sufficient to proceed if a hearing is recommended.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience conducting investigations of alleged non-compliance with state laws and regulations, which govern the licensing and practices of business occupations and professions.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Compliance Inspection and Support classifications or Compliance Inspection and Support specialty codes in the Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
