Introduction
This is a part-time contractual position with the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack.

POSITION DUTIES
Duties include but are
not limited to:
1. Monitor
and communicate with MSP and other public safety personnel via two-way multi-channel
radios and maintain required documentation of same.
2. Utilize
MILES/NCIC/NLETS to obtain, update, disseminate and accurately transmit
information within the Department and to other law enforcement and criminal
justice agencies.
3. Utilize
CAD system to insert compliant information for police services.
4. Utilize
telephone in a professional manner to provide necessary guidance and
information to Department personnel and the general public.
5. Performs
other related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Successful completion of the MSP training program.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include Clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s):
Four plus (4+) years of dispatching experience in a 911 (police/emergency) services environment utilizing a CAD (computer aided dispatch) system.
Four (4)
years of experience in a multi-faceted work environment using data entry
keyboard
functions
and a multi-line telephone system.
May be a
combination of a 911 Center of (Fire, EMS, Police/emergency services)
dispatching for a total of four (4) years education and/or experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants for positions this classification will be subject to an extensive background investigation prior to appointment.
2. Employees in this classification will be required to provide the employing barrack with a telephone number where they can be reached.
3. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
SELECTION PROCESS
Only candidates who meet
the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification.
Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information
on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List
categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain
eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination.
The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees. The list will
be valid for one year.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will
consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the
requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications
supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all
experience and education that is related to this position.
