Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Supervises the work of MDA, county and district employees working in the local soil conservation district office. This includes assigning and reviewing work, signing time sheets, approving leave and preparing performance appraisals.
- Provides local administrative oversight of the MDA Water Quality Cost-Share (MACS) Program to ensure adherence to the program guidelines according to the MACS Manual.
- Guides and assists the local Board of Supervisors in the implementation of federal, state and local programs administered by the local district. Coordinates Board of Supervisors meetings by planning the agenda and providing any necessary resource materials to facilitate sound decision making.
- Prepares budget requests to receive funds from MDA, local government and other funding sources by evaluating the needs of the district as they relate to program delivery.
- Develops the annual plan of work and the work goals for implementing conservation programs in the district by following the guidelines provided by MDA, the National Resource Conservation Service and the district's Board of Supervisors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience in soil conservation, water quality protection or related agriculture or natural resource programs.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional administrative or supervisory experience in a soil conservation, water quality protection or related agriculture or natural resource program on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in soil conservation classifications or soil conservation specialty codes in the soil conservation field of work on a year-for- year basis for the required experience and education.
