Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Assist technical programmer analysts in the design, development, and testing of application system corrections and enhancements by analyzing modifications recommended, determining system impact and estimating effort and resources required to perform modifications.
- Monitor the use of information technology system in order to determine advances and changes necessary to achieve desired DJS goals in order to plan, design, develop improvements to DJS information systems and develop plans for training staff.
- Supports projects and assists project managers and committees in the design, development, testing, and training of applications system corrections or enhancements.
- Participates in the management of changes to application based on input from individual system users, user groups, and control agencies who identify requirements relating to application deficiencies or enhancements.
- Perform problem analysis to provide appropriate and timely corrective action when agency operations are adversely impacted by application system’s malfunction or error.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Three years of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or statewide systems housed on mainframe computers or large client server platforms.

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management, Information Technology or other related field with specific coursework in the structure and use of automated information systems and one year of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or statewide systems housed on mainframe computers or large client server platforms for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute experience responding to and resolving help desk calls from users of computers, or operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, database or other applications on a year-for-year basis for a high school education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two years of experience working on business analysis, requirements, and processes.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with software, development of test scripts, and test scenarios based on program and users’ requirements.
- Minimum of one year of experience utilizing Waterfall, and Agile software system development, methodologies, and tools.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in
this classification may be subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, may
be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the
employee can be reached. Employees may be furnished with a pager or cell phone.
