LOCATION OF POSITION
POSITION DUTIES
This position will be responsible for budget analysis and reporting, compiling statistical data for presentation, monitors and tracks expenditures and revenues, assists in the preparation of monthly/quarterly federal fiscal billings, assist w/journal entries and the yearend close out process and will research requests for information from auditors or other entities. Incumbent may be required to work overtime during peak budget periods.
Calculate
and verify actual expenditures and budget figures.
Compiles
supporting fiscal and statistical data for presentation of the budget to
departmental budget specialists.
Monitors
expenditures, prepares periodic and special budget projections and recommends
adjustments in budget appropriations to meet operational necessities subject to
the approval of departmental budget specialists.
Prepares
and analyzes periodic and special reports to meet departmental funding source
requirements and to keep management advised of the fiscal status of the agency.
Participates
in the annual fiscal year end closeout in accordance with generally accepted
accounting principles.
Provides
information to auditors reviewing the fiscal services unit.
May
oversee procurement, inventory, and supply activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.
Experience: Three years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles.
Notes:
1. Applicants who had met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.
2. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. Applicants may substitute one year of professional budgeting experience or one year of professional auditing experience for one year of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Financial field on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
