Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the manager of several teams within the Data Control Unit. These teams are responsible for membership enrollments, collecting and updating payroll data files from employers (over 150 individual employers) who participate in the System, and reviewing individual member records for correct balances of service credit and member contributions. These functions are currently accomplished through three separate teams of accounting and administrative professionals. Each team is led by a supervisor and this manager position currently has 15 total direct and indirect reports. All of these teams operate in a fast paced and deadline sensitive environment. The ability of these teams to produce high volumes of high-quality work is essential to the success of the Data Control Unit.

The following characteristics are essential to success in this leadership role:
• High energy and optimistic with a “can do attitude”;
• Ability to project a calm and confident demeanor while being professionally assertive;
• Excellent verbal communication skills and strong written communication skills;
• High standards for their work and the work of their staff;
• Strong reconciliations skills that are both thorough and efficient (this position is responsible for the reconciliation of the Annuity Savings Funds which has a balance of almost 12 billion dollars); and
• Robust problem-solving skills to be able to analyze processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
