Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to wow grass, apply fertilizer and pesticides, prune shrubbery and
trees, weeds and mulches garden beds and rakes leaves. Plant and water grass,
flowers, shrubbery and trees. Maintain equipment by inspecting and replacing
filters, belts and switches, cleaning and lubricating machinery and tools,
changing motor fluids and sharpening blades. Perform minor repairs to grounds
such as patching walkways and steps. Cut and remove dead or damaged trees. Maintain roads, storm drains and parking areas. Remove dirt, rubbish, leaves and
other refuse from grounds. May clean and do simple maintenance indoors. May
assist in the maintenance of recreational facilities. May load and unload
supplies and equipment from trucks, move furniture and equipment and set up
chairs and tables for meetings and special events. Perform other related
duties.
POSITION DUTIES
Maintain the assigned grounds
and grounds equipment to include above listed duties as well as other related
duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: None.
Experience: Six months of experience in the care and maintenance of grounds.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
6 months of experience with mowing equipment
6 months experience with general grounds keeping and maintenance.

qualifications will be evaluated. The evaluation may be a rating of your

the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is essential that you provide

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.

eligibility (DD 214) for Veterans’ Credit will be required prior to hire.
