RICA Baltimore is currently searching for a Psychology Associate.  The level of position will be determined based on the best qualified applicant's education and experience.  Please select the level your interested in applying for on the supplemental questions.

Main Purpose of Job

In order for RICA-Baltimore to maintain a family-driven, youth guided program this position analyzes clinical data and writes reports.  This position requires someone who demonstrates specific expertise in understanding the symptoms and treatments for clients with diagnoses which are typically seen in emotionally disturbed adolescents. This position requires someone who can work effectively with a treatment team made up of nursing/residential, educational and rehabilitation staff as well as social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists.  The incumbent of this position must also be able to generate the extensive documentation such as treatment plans, progress notes and reports required in a contemporary mental health context.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications are based on the level of position you are applying for:

Psychology Associate I, Masters (CI):

Education:   A Master’s degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university in a program acceptable to the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Experience: None.

Psychology Associate II, Masters (CI):

Education:   A Master’s degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university in a program acceptable to the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Experience: Two years of supervised experience rendering psychological services or engaged in research, after completion of the Master’s degree.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of a twelve month internship required for the possession of a Master’s degree or Doctorate degree for one year of the required  experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Psychology Associate Doctorate (CI):

Education:   A Doctorate degree in Psychology, as defined by the Health Occupations Article, Title 18-101 (g), Annotated Code of Maryland.

Experience: One year of supervised experience rendering direct psychological services, providing psychological assessments, and evaluating the delivery of psychological services.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of a twelve-month full-time or twenty-four month half-time internship in rendering psychological services for the required experience, provided the internship is a requirement for the Doctorate degree in Psychology.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

In accordance with the Health Occupations Article, Title 18-301 (b4), employees in this classification are required at the time of hire to apply jointly with the supervising Psychologist to the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for an exemption from licensure.  The exemption must be received within six months of submitting the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates for this classification may be given a medical examination to  determine their ability to perform job related functions.

2. Employees in this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists within three years of appointment to a position.

For education obtained outside the U.S., any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing an evaluation for equivalency by a foreign credential evaluation service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview).

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
