LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH, Potomac Center/SETT, Hagerstown, MD
Main Purpose of Job
This position will be responsible for directing, providing, monitoring and/or supervising provision of health care services to and on behalf of Center Individuals. This position will also be responsible for keeping up with Center's residential status and mandated responsibility to ensure provision of essential medical services, assignments may at times encompass any of three (3) shifts and will entail frequent weekend and holiday working hours. This position will make regular rounds from building to building for medications, monitoring, report giving/taking and other reasons/purposes. This position must personally respond to emergency situations, both medical and behavioral, in accordance with sound nursing practices and applicable policies and procedures, issuing any necessary instructions or directions to staff. Finally, this position will discharge all duties and conduct oneself at all times per all relevant Regulations, Standards, Policies and Procedures including: Departments of Budget and Management and Mental Health and Hygiene; Title 17 Code of Maryland regulations; Memorandum of Understanding; Office of Health Quality; ICF-MR; Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; The Council on Quality and Leadership in Supports for People with Disabilities; and Potomac Center and SETT.
The Nursing department is shared services for Potomac Center and SETT.

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
Experience: Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the Medical option for .
Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university for the one year of general experience. 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or 3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess the following:
- Experience leading Registered Nurses and/or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Experience working with the intellectually disabled population
- Experience working with a forensic population
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. 3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.
