Main Purpose of Job

This position performs the full performance level of work involving planning, coordinating, and evaluating volunteer activities. This position also supports the Director of Community Resources and Development with secretarial, clerical and logistical duties. This position works directly with the Director to prepare the newsletter and other possible mailings needed to develop public awareness of the JLG-RICA program.

NOTICE: Federal COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Certain Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Employees Per the emergency regulation issued by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) (86 FR 61555), and as permitted to go into effect by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 13, 2022, all staff at the Maryland Department of Health’s CMS certified health care facilities are required to receive either a first or single COVID-19 dose and provide proof of their vaccination status by January 29, 2022. If selected for this position, candidates will be required to provide proof of vaccination status or have an approved religious or medical exemption prior to appointment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years of experience involving planning, coordinating and evaluating volunteer activities in a state facility, institution or community-based program.

Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in social sciences, journalism, public relations or a related field and two years of experience involving planning, coordinating and evaluating volunteer activities in a state facility, institution or community-based program for the required experience. 
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of graduate level education in social sciences, journalism, public relations or a related field from an accredited college or university at a rate of 30 credit hours for five years of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience working with adolescents with emotional disabilities and court involved youth
  • Experience working with computer software, i.e.: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete training and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
