Introduction
This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
This position promotes inbound foreign investment, particularly within targeted industries; analyzes Maryland companies to determine the exportability of their products and services in target markets; develops strategies to enter markets, and counsels companies on the best allocation of resources to implement their export action plan. The incumbent works closely with OIIT's foreign office network, foreign governments, federal agencies and local government officials in Maryland and other organizations to develop investment and trade opportunities for foreign companies and Maryland businesses. Public speaking and foreign travel are required for this position..
Candidates must have excellent English written and oral communications skills as well as strong organizational and marketing skills. The ability to work with high-level public, private sector, and international officials, maintain effective working relationships; handle multiple, concurrent and high priority tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in international business, management or economics, or related field
Experience: Six years of business development experience, two years of which includes international business experience.
Notes:
Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work subject area may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year –for-year basis for the required general experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Describe in detail any job duties relating to the qualifications stated.
Fluency in a relevant foreign language.
Possession of an advanced degree.
Knowledge of the region’s business culture and customs.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Mail, other relevant software to include spreadsheet and data software.
