Main Purpose of Job

This is a contractual position is responsible for coordinating and delivering vocational rehabilitation services leading to employment for individuals with significant disabilities.

POSITION DUTIES

Assists persons with disabilities in preparing for or obtaining and maintaining employment; determines eligibility for vocational services; provides individual career counseling to people with disabilities; reviews medical, psychological, and vocational data to evaluate the nature and extent of the disability; coordinates and provides services to eligible individuals necessary to accommodate their disabilities and obtain employment; obtains services from other community agencies for people with disabilities; and provides job placement, post-employment, and follow up services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE

Level I - Professional experience in a behavioral or social science related field is preferred.  

Level II - Two years of professional experience in a behavioral or social science field is required; a Master's Degree in a Behavioral or Social Science related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with providing career counseling and case management.
Experience in the VR and/or Human Services - related field. 
Professional experience working with individuals with disabilities. 
Experience with preparing others for employment, using job seeking tools and resources.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
