Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for providing Pre-Employment Transition Services in addition to to coordinating and delivering Vocational Rehabilitation Services leading to employment for students with significant disabilities in Montgomery County.

POSITION DUTIES

Manages the processing of referrals, conducts intake interviews, and compiles documentation to determine eligibility for services.  Develops both Pre-Employment Transition Service Agreements and Individualized Plans for Employment that include services to be arranged or provided in addition to referring participants to appropriate programs and following along to assure of implementation.  Serves as liaison with County Public Schools with regard to referrals and provides technical assistance as it relates to Transition Services.  Works collaboratively with community and educational programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree.

EXPERIENCE:  Level I – Professional experience in a behavioral or social science related field is preferred. 

Level II – Two years of professional experience in a behavioral or social science related field is required; a Master’s Degree in a Behavioral or Social Science related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.  

Bilingual skills preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
