POSITION DUTIES

This is a part-time (50%) professional level position with the Division of Rehabilitation Services, Rehabilitation Technology Services Program that specializes in the delivery, setup, training on and support of computer based and other consumer and assistive technologies that when applied, promote employment, economic self-sufficiency and/or independence of individuals with disabilities. The position's focus is on the delivery, setup, and orientation of equipment as prescribed during the consumers assessment, and providing support to consumers' computing and assistive technologies to minimize downtime.

Duties include:

  • Delivers, installs, and/or sets up consumer, computing, or assistive technology as per assessment recommendations, manufacturer or RTS standards at the Center, field office, consumers residence, place of employment, or other location including assisting in the delivery and setup of furniture such as tables, chairs, monitor arms, and laptop stands
  • Provides training to the consumer and their supports (i.e. family/employer) on the setup/connection/safe use of the consumer or assistive technology/software, effective use of manuals and help resources, basic troubleshooting, accessing quick start guides and support resources and introductory training in line with assessment recommendations
  • Responds to and coordinates the resolution of technical issues experienced with consumer’s computing and assistive technology devices and software from start to finish
  • Recommends necessary upgrades or updates to computers and/or assistive technologies or make referral for additional services or assessments as needed
  • Recommends appropriate computing systems based on consumer’s intended use and requirements of software and/or assistive technologies
  • Completes detailed service reports and documentation while maintaining help desk logs and knowledge base

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree is required. 

Experience:
Two years of professional experience in software/hardware technical support, assistive technology, teaching or rehabilitation work in education or rehabilitation programs for individuals with disabilities.   

Notes: 
  • Additional experience as defined above directly related to the position may be substituted for the required Bachelor's degree at the rate of one year of experience for one year of education.
  • Possession of a Master's Degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Experience with Commercial Technologies, software, and their accessibility settings, including but not limited to MAC OS, Apple iOS, Android, Windows OS, Microsoft Office and Internet Browsers. Experience with installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and training on commercial and assistive technology.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Assistive Technologies, including but not limited to magnifiers, Screen Magnification and Screen Reading programs, Standalone Readers, cognitive or learning software and/or devices, Smart pens and other note taking options, and physical access.

Certifications such as A+ Certificate, RESNA’s Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), ACVREP’s Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist for People with Visual Impairments (CATIS), or certificate/degree in AT or Special Education such as CSUN’s Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program (ATACP). software and devices.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
