Main Purpose of Job

This position assists the Program Director oversee the programmatic components of the Maryland WIC Program. This position serves as Acting Director when the Director is not available to represent the Program. In the absence of the Director, this position assumes responsibility for administering departmental and programmatic policy and overseeing all operations of the Program statewide. The position assists the Director in the supervision of key personnel and maintains direct supervision over program operational units. The position assists with program and project reviews, evaluation and coordination of program activities, and management of budgets.

This position may be eligible for teleworking a percentage of the week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and at least six years of professional health or human services experience, at least 3 years experience related to maternal and child health, preferable with the WIC program and least 2 years of management experience with responsibilities including staff recruitment and supervision, policy development and implementation, and budget monitoring.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates should possess the following:
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills;
  • Ability to easily navigate Microsoft Office products and Gmail; and,
  • Ability to represent the program in working with partners and ability to analyze data for use in planning and operations.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
