Main Purpose of Job

The Director of Educational Support Services and Public Information leads a team collectively responsible for producing multimedia educational materials, including video, print, and electronic formats; ensures consistency of agency branding and image; develops collaborative relationships with peers in other agencies and within health care system; and serves as the primary point of contact for public information.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Lead the Educational Support Services Team, including human resources functions.
  • Produce annual updates to "The Maryland Medical Protocols for Emergency Medical Services."
  • Produce supporting educational videos regarding protocol updates.
  • Manage electronic media presence and postings.
  • Produce an annual statewide EMS report.
  • Ensure brand consistency and promotion.
  • Foster working relationships with EMS agencies and hospitals in the state.
  • Support the educational and public information needs of MIEMSS departments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the media and public.
  • Serve as a member of the MIEMSS leadership team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in multimedia journalism, marketing, communications or a related field.

Experience: Five years of experience that includes educational and/or marketing communications.

Notes:

1) Candidates may substitute additional experience in educational or marketing communications on a year for year basis for the required education.

2) Candidate may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in multimedia journalism, production, or a related field for one year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience leading teams.

Video production experience.

Design experience, including infographics, educational and marketing materials, and digital images.

Social media management experience.

Experience related to media.

Knowledge of Maryland's EMS system.
