Main Purpose of Job

The Executive Director of Resource Office (Executive Director) reports to the Deputy Secretary of Community Operations. The Executive Director manages all activities to support and provide a continuum of services for all youth who come into contact with the Department of Juvenile Services. The continuum includes all contracted services provided to youth under pre-court, community detention, community supervision, and services for youth who have been court-ordered into an out-of-home placement. This office is responsible for ensuring that youth receive the appropriate, individualized, fiscally responsible services that address their needs in the least restrictive environment, consistent with public safety. 

This position represents DJS on the Interagency Council of Homelessness (ICH) and related workgroups, which are all legislative mandated committees. 

This position directs the Department's Placement Unit, oversees three positions that work with youth placed in the community, and directs the Department’s Interstate Compact Unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  A Bachelor’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Eight years of progressive supervisory experience in units or programs. 

For education obtained outside the United States, you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • Work experience in the public or private sector coordinating or providing a continuum of services to youth in the community or residential setting;

  • Work experience in contract development;

  • Work experience in auditing or monitoring programs;

  • Masters of Social Work.
